Wind Specialist – Symphony Orchestra
Jon Gomez is a National Educational Consultant who serves as an Clinician for the Conn-Selmer Division of Education and Music Celebrations International (MCI), providing services as an educator, guest conductor, clinician, session presenter, and adjudicator. Mr. Gomez was the Former Director of Bands and Department Chair for the Performing Arts at Dobson High School in Mesa, Arizona (2000-2016). In prior years, he served as Director of Bands at Coronado High School and as the District Team Leader for Bands in the Scottsdale Unified School District (1988-2000) Through the years, his bands earned numerous accolades and have presented distinguished performances, including: the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, China, three invitations to the Music For All National Concert Band Festival, Carnegie Hall, five performances at the Arizona Music Educators Conference, and throughout Europe.
Jon received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (1987) and Master degree in Education Administration (1993) from Arizona State University. Recently, he created a 5-part video series for Musician’s Toolkit entitled, “The Cornerstones for Successful Teaching”. As Co-Founder of Synergy Leadership Endeavors, Jon helped create the video & CD-ROM entitled, “Leadership Success” published by GIA Publications. Gomez is associated with the: Country Music Association Music Teacher of Excellence Selection Committee, The Musician’s Toolkit (Board Member and Presenter), The Midwest Clinic Advisory Committee (Member), Music for All National Band Festival (Host and Past Advisory Member), Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association (Past-President/Board Member), Summer Marching Academy (Co-Founder), and judge for: Bands of America, Arizona Band & Orchestra Directors Association, Southern California School Band & Orchestra Directors Association, and the Utah Music Educators Association. He is a Charter Member of the Kappa Zeta Chapter of Phi Beta Mu (Honorary Band Masters Fraternity). Jon is also the Recipient of the Arizona State University School of Music Alumni Award and the AMEA O.M. Hartsell Excellence in Teaching Music Award.
